A ramp is won before the tools arrive.

New lines lose time in the same places: crews not certified, suppliers not qualified, audits not passed. We work on all three early.

01 The cost of waiting

A late ramp costs the output you planned and did not ship.

The building and tools cost the same from day one. Every month behind plan spreads that cost over fewer good units.

  • Crews hired after the tools, not before.
  • Suppliers found during a shortage, not ahead of one.
  • Quality systems written for the audit, not the line.
  • Partners chosen under deadline, unchecked.

None of these needs new science. Each needs an owner, early.

The second curve lags the plan; the area between them is output that was planned but not shipped. 04 Three kinds of line

Fab, OSAT and ATMP ramp differently.

Front-end

Wafer fabs

Long qualification, heavy utilities, deepest need for experience.

  • Module engineers with ramp experience
  • Sub-fab, gas and chemical technicians
  • Process-critical material supply
Back-end

OSAT lines

High volume, many customers, audits that decide orders.

  • Operator pipelines at scale
  • Quality systems customers audit
  • Test and product engineering
Back-end

ATMP and advanced packaging

Captive lines and newer packages, tighter process windows.

  • Experienced packaging engineers
  • Bonding, bumping and molding technicians
  • Reliability and failure-analysis partners

05 Signature programmes

One for the start of the ramp. One for the customer at the end.

P-01 · Ramp Readiness Review

Four questions, asked of everything the ramp depends on.

  1. What must be true by the milestone?
  2. What is true today?
  3. Who owns the gap?
  4. What happens if it slips?

You get a ranked risk register and a dated action list, written for the leadership team.

P-07 · Audit-Ready

Customers qualify a line before they load it.

  • Gap assessment against customer requirements and standards
  • Mock audits on the floor, every shift
  • Corrective actions tracked to closure
  • Operators and engineers prepared for auditors

Formal audits, certification and lab testing by accredited partner bodies.

06 Boundaries

What we do in a ramp, and what we do not.

Delivered by FabBeyond

We do

  • Review readiness and report risk to leadership
  • Recruit and supply crews, technicians and engineers
  • Provide project staff for install and qualification
  • Find and assess local suppliers and service providers
  • Prepare lines and people for customer audits
With qualified partners

We do not, ourselves

  • Design or construct fabs and cleanroomsThrough design and construction partners.
  • Design or execute tool hook-upLicensed specialist contractors.
  • Own or operate fabrication facilitiesWe are a services company.
  • Certify lines or productsAccredited bodies and laboratories.

07 Questions

Fab and OSAT ramp-up, answered plainly.

What is ramp support for a semiconductor fab or OSAT?

Ramp support is the work that gets a new line from installed tools to planned volume on schedule. FabBeyond provides readiness reviews, the first shift crews, engineers and technicians for install and qualification, local supplier discovery and preparation for customer audits.

When should a new fab or OSAT start hiring its operating crews?

Early enough that technicians can take part in tool installation and operators can be certified during qualification. In practice the hiring plan is built backwards from the tool-install schedule, not forwards from building handover.

What happens between tool arrival and production release?

Typically nine steps: arrival and inspection, move-in, setting and levelling, utility hook-up, leak and safety checks, power-on, vendor acceptance, process qualification and release to production.

Does FabBeyond build fabs or install tools?

No. FabBeyond does not design or construct facilities and does not perform hook-up engineering. Those are delivered by specialist partners and licensed contractors. FabBeyond supplies the readiness review, the people, the project staff and the supplier connections around them.

Can you help a line prepare for an automotive customer audit?

Yes. The Audit-Ready programme covers a gap assessment against the customer’s requirements and relevant standards such as IATF 16949, mock audits, corrective-action tracking and preparation of staff. Formal certification is carried out by accredited bodies.
